Cherry Audio Atomika Review!

atomika

Cherry Audio recently released their newest plugin Atomika and it is based on the legendary Polyvoks synth from the old USSR. a duphonic design, the Polyvoks was often made with some poor quality components, which to be frank, added to the character. Cherry audio have come along and released their take on this synth, added a few features like polyphony and more controls, packaged it up with some great presets (over 350 of them!) and, well made a different synth. It’s raw, it can be wild and well it is certainly not the same as the plethora of other analogue plugins out there. Add in some decent FX and a decent price of $49 and whilst it certainly isn’t groundbreaking I think I’d rather have this than say Arturias recently released and reviewed HERE Synthx V – especially at a much more wallet friendly price! This review is based on the demo version as funds cannot stretch just yet to the full release, but the demo does everything the full release does except for random noise in the background, something that I am pleased to see.

Atomika

As you can hear in the demo the Atomika sounds, well, different. It can be harsh, it can be brash and well I really like it. With some great presets to show off what it can do, the price point, I feel it is worth more of your consideration that quite a few plugins recently released. Cherry Audio always bring products out with great prices and this continues with Atomika which is available right now for $49. The filter “starve” function is absolutely brilliant in making bubbling and liquid textures…
This is a plugin I recommend – priced well, sounds great, and just aches to be fiddled around with!

Great plugin, well worth checking out. Excellent price and performance, sounds different from a host of other plugins released recently, at a more wallet friendly price point.

Sounds great, filter starve is a great tool. Can be subtle or brutish easily
Ease of Use
9.1 out of 10
Easy to use, low on cpu to be honest and immensely tweakable! Just get in there and twiddle away
Features
7.8 out of 10
It's pretty simple – my only criticism is that there isn't too much going on, however it does mean you get great hands on feel and the sound quality doesn't disappoint!
Price
10 out of 10
Excellent price for the support and features you get. Other makers take note, a plugin with over 350 decent presets for $49!!!

Pros

Great sound – analogue yet with bite and sounds different.

Great price considering a lot of other plugins are double the price of this.

Decent arp and FX included.

Cons

Despite me liking this it is yet another analogue plugin.

There isn't a great deal to it – but it sounds great!
