3DCLIVE and the OSA

online safety act

The online safety act is coming along as we speak, and it has come to my attention that 3DCLIVE has to do various things to comply. Suffice to say I have already implemented many things that are necessary and that as far as I am aware there will be no issues moving forward. If (not when) thgis community gets a large amount of users however, things will have to change. As it is right now though, things are beginning to change in the UK around online communities, mainly about children accessing services online. 3DCLIVE is committed to being a legal community and I’m afraid that it may be necessary to restrict UK usage in years to come, especially around age, HOWEVER as it stands we are perfectly fine. If things change, then of course we will let you know about it…

The biggest issue I can see is that livestreaming platforms are going to have to make a lot of changes, especially around age verification. This may even result in some services being banned and being unable to be accessed in the UK. As far as I can see Youtube, Twitch and Facebook are probably the ones most likely to be affected and by the same token the ones less likely to comply and be banned outright in the UK (though Youtube has kids so is probably fine). More likely though is more huge fines that they won’t pay and litigation taking years and millions of pounds to achieve.I haven’t even mentioned the cesspool that is X, but I can 100% see bans coming up for that as Musk will blatantly flount his get out of jail free card of free speech. Threads I can see buckling down the hatches and complying as it still wants to gain more traction, but that would mean Instagram also doing the same – and this is pretty much a certainty and would result in a massive loss of users and posts if and when it happens.

As usual, if there are any questions, please feel free to contact us here.
