Dawesome Myth V1.5 Review

Recently Dawesome updated Myth to V1.5 which boasts a new re-synthesis method which aims to keep more of the sample transients, although the old version is still available. This was about the only criticism of the earlier versions to be fair. For a nice overview of the new features check out the video below!

Re-synthesis in Myth V1.5

That video gives you a really good example of how Myth has pretty much improved. Remember it is re-synthesis not just playing the sample! So in just over 6 months Myth is pretty much getting a whole new version. I’m pleased with how Dawesome has gone about its product updates with all of its products getting regular bug fixes and updates. Myth has always been a different product and is described by Dawesome as a synth that uses non-linear synthesis and takes samples and turns them into something completely new. There are lots of presets included and the price is a pretty reasonable $89.50 at this current time, down from from $179.50. That’s a hefty saving and for me well worth the money right now! Myth uses 2 x Iris controls to mangle the sound to your liking and these have a wide range of controls and there is also a decent arp. Clouds makes some really great textures and in the whole the sound can be really expansive and mutating along over time. Some great textures are included in the factory sounds and there are also the unfold expansion available. Please check out the video below for some factory sound examples

Myth Preset Demo

So all in all Myth is a great plugin, even so at the more wallet friendly price and is well worth checking out. You can get a free demo at Dawesome too if you want. The Dawesome plugins are all different to a lot of other plugins out there and are especially good for drones and ambient sounds.

Myth is a great plugin for ambient drones and evolving textures with the new re-synthesis method. Works well, looks great and even more importantly sounds wonderful. Just watch the cpu usage as it can hammer things when pushed!

Stability
9 out of 10
Pretty decent especially now in V1.5. Just a few slowdowns and it isn't the quickest to change patches sometimes
Ease of Use
8 out of 10
Not the easiest as it can make some drastic changes, but still not that hard either. Does a good job of keeping it simple and the graphics show what is happening
Look & Feel
9 out of 10
Looks great like all of the Dawesome products!
Price
8 out of 10
At the current price it is an 8, but normal price is a fair bit harder to swallow

Pros

Sounds great!

Great evolving textures and sounds. Even better now with new re-synthesis method

Performs well considering the power and you can tweak cpu. I wouldn't want to use it on older systems though

Cons

Not really a synth for sounds to cut through a mix, far better for textures

A lot depends on the basis of the original sample that is imported

The cpu usage can be extreme if pushed.
