Now a lot of you will be crying foul over this, but for someone who just uses OBS as basic streaming software and doesn’t add bells and whistles to their stream, I can see Meld overtaking OBS soon. It just works better, less crashes and is way less bloated than OBS if you have added plugins everywhere. It is criminal that OBS doesn’t have a decent plugin manager still…. add features, make it worse and not do a simple change that would pretty much eliminate all of the issues seems bizarre to me. Anyway – Meld AI seems alright, and you don’t have to use it or pay for it either…
To be honest I think that 2026 is the year that people should move away from OBS. Meld is just better, it works better. Now for me, the only things that need to change is x265/HEVC encoding with SRT/WHIP/better formats too and I will swap straight away… it is already far, far easier to do anything than OBS ever was!
